Kamanche leitet sich ab von persisch Kaman+Cheh und ist die persische Stachelgeige.  Das Instrument Kamancheh hat verschiedene Umschriften und Namen im Iran und auch in Nachbar Ländern. Dazu gehören Kamancheh, Kamanche, Kamancha, Kamanja, Kamance, Kemancheh, Komancheh, Kemancha etc.

The word Kamancheh is documented from the 10th century in iconographical and poetry sources. This instrument is the spike fiddle of not only Iran, but also Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia too.
